THE PRODIGAL BROTHER. Intro: Today, we again turn our attention to the most famous of our Lord’s parables. This extended parable in Luke 15 Is intended to teach the truth that God loves sinners. He loves the lost enough to go after them in their lost condition, as evidenced by all three illustrations in this chapter. He loves the self. [PART 4 OF 4] In the previous article, we looked at the Parable of the Prodigal Son from the perspective of the prodigal son this article, we will re-examine the parable from the perspective of the older brother.   The parable of the prodigal son is one of the greatest love stories ever told - a story filled with mercy and grace. It is a parable of how God views us and how we can choose to repent and turn to God or reject him. You will read in the Bible verses below about a father and two sons. In the book, The Prodigal God by Tim Keller, the author claims most people fall into one of these two categories. The younger-brother types are the ones who are adventurous and risk-taking. They distrust institutions (like government and religion), shake off constraints, and desire to experience all that life has to offer.

This book's title phrase, "prodigal brother," doesn't refer to the intended reader but rather to a troublesome sibling the wayward one who has wreaked havoc on the family dynamics.

Author Sue Thompson had such a brother, her only and younger sibling, the kind who could have been a child candidate for the "Dr. Phil" show: full of fear and anger trouble from the day he was 5/5(5). But there is a side story that is often overlooked: the story of the prodigal son’s brother.

The Brother “would not go in” We are informed that when the prodigal son finally returned home, his father The prodigals brother book reinstated the boy into full family fellowship, which was represented by the robe, ring and shoes.

The Prodigal Brother: Longhorn Series, Book 3 Dusty Rhodes (Author), Gene Engene (Narrator), Books in Motion (Publisher) Get Audible Free/5(3). The Prodigal Brother Gene Engene did a good job narrating this story. I started with book one in the series and have listened in order. The story is interesting but at times I was impatient and wanted to hurry the story as the suspense was getting to me.

Was interesting that one brother was a rancher the other a miner. The new life the prodigal finds in his father's love is mirrored in the mercy the legalistic elder brother finds when he learns that his slave-like labor is useless in winning his father's love. The Prodigal's Sister, which the author reads on the accompanying CD, rejoices over the incomparable grace of God.

3 Lessons – The Prodigal Son Parable. In the parable of the prodigal son, Jesus illustrates to his listeners the joy of forgiveness, both on the part of the penitent sinner and of God. But do we not feel a sneaking sympathy for the faithful and jealous elder brother.

The passage chosen from St Luke’s Gospel for the Mass of the Fourth Sunday in Lent (Lk ) is probably the. Luke New International Version (NIV) The Parable of the Lost Son.

11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. 13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his.

The Story of Two Older Brothers by John Sartelle Self-righteousness cannot exist without producing an attitude of moral superiority, a lack of mercy, and a joyless servitude.

The elder brother of the prodigal in Jesus’ parable is a living picture of these characteristics that always suckle at the breast of self-righteousness. The Prodigal Brother is the final installment of Ms. Hecht's "Blue Line Hockey series".

While it did not quite live up to the other books in the series, all in all, the story was definitely worth reading. I highly recommend the entire series to readers who like sports/hockey romance and/or books featuring brothers and the bonds they share/5.

The older brother obviously didn't have a clue what his Father's heart was like; how gracious, forgiving and loving. I would suggest that though the Prodigal traveled far from the Father's house, the older brother traveled far from the Father's heart.

It's insightful to see the lavish love poured over the returning Prodigal. Leave it to the Prodigals to write a song that will make you laugh and cry near simultaneously. Fast forward a track and they'll have you off your feet dancing longing for the nearest Irish Festival and pint(s) of Guinness.

What I've always liked about the Prodigals is the original music.5/5(1). The Prodigal Brother. Octo Last week we started our series on the Father Heart of God, focusing on what we’ve called Fatherless Living.

- And what we said was that each and every one of us has been created, at our very core, with a fundamental need for the Father’s love.

During the festivities, the older brother shows up. He’s offended that his father has shown his brother grace. He yells at his dad, asserting that he’s always been faithful and is the one who deserves a party.

People call the story the “parable of the prodigal son” and they focus in. In his book The Prodigal God, Timothy Keller points out that the two brothers represent the two basic ways people try to make life work.

His is an unforgiving world. Within that world there is no chance for repentance, no possibility of conversion, and therefore, no hope for redemption in which to trust.
